I don't think they are worth obsessing over. Yes, they are a pretty good series, but there are so many other works of literature that I prefer. I'm kind of annoyed that so many people are crazy for an imaginary kid. Sheesh! Some people dedicate their lives to some little boy who they will never meet and to some little imaginary land that they will never visit in real life. Remember, you asked for my opinion.

I cant wait for the 7th book.
Harry feels like the next door neighbor, I watched growing up over the last few years. I think what makes the series so successful is the fact that most readers can actually relate to Harry as a human being and the growing up process (some crazy people can also relate to him on a magical level - lol).

Excellent books!!!

I read the first one when I was 11 and I was really into all that. Now my literary tastes have matured but I want to know what happens to Harry. I've grown up with him after all (he was 11 in the first book too)

The only thing is, I study Literature at college, and every book I read I end up picking holes in it.

I Love Harry Potter. There are lines at bookstores for the latest book, as there are for X-box, or (dating myself) concert tickets. I read the first one, thought it was OK, but fantasy is not my genre. However, anything that gets adolescent boys interested in reading gets my vote.

I'm a total Potter nut and dang proud of it. I didn't get into it until right before Order came out but I'm totally devoted now and completely devastated that I'll be in Japan when the last book comes out.

When it first came out, I thought it was just for kids. When I got hold of book 1, my interest grew and couldn't stop reading until the wee hours of the morning. I liked the book. JK Rowling is a great author. Witchcraft or not, it still brings back our childhood memories of good's triumph over evil. : )
