I have a compaq evo n610c. Battery stays at 75% and it says that is charging but it aint doing nothing. I unplug the adapter and turn the laptop on and its on for 4 seconds and then it shuts off. Have anybody has this problem?. Is it the battery or the motherboard. I already clean the bettery and spray the dust remover but that doesnt help. Any help would be great.

Looks like your battery have already passed it usability life.. !

time to bid adieu to it.. and get a new replacement battery.

you can go to HP website and order yourself new battery (original from HP) and got warranty for the battery..

or.., you can purchased the battery from any of the third-party vendor/website outthere.. , much cheaper - but not so sure how long can it last.

Batteries go bad all the time on laptops. A laptop battery will usually start losing its full charge after a years use or 96 working hours. Check the manufactuer to see if you can order a new battery or a local battery store to see if they have an aftermarket battery for your model, or go to http://bestbuy.partsearch.com/ and try to find a replacement battery there.

Sony (therefore almost all laptop mfr) have a major recall of batteries going on. You should check with Compaq and see it they'll replace yours.
