I think Gore was the best back in the NFL last year not named Ladanian. He was an absolute beast for a bad 49er Team, and averaged 5.5 per carry on more than 1,600 yards (behind only Tomlinson and LJ).
No way Ladanian repeats last year's success, and for LJ the history of backs with 400+ carries is that they fade fast (Dickerson, Jamal Anderson, James Wilder, etc)
Gore is younger than both, and runs like Earl Campbell. I say the rushing title is VERY likely, and if the 49ers make the playoffs he's probably the MVP.
What do ya say?

I think you are right. Frank Gore had a monster year playing for a very poor 49ers team. It is only because of him they won 7 games. Plus, Ladainian will probably be on Madden 08, and we know the Madden Curse will blow out his knee, so he has a legitimate chance at both.

I hate to tell you but.....wont happen, to either of those. Not b/c Frank Gore is not a good back but b/c Frank Gore came out of nowhere last year and teams now know that if you stop Frank Gore it shouldnt be to hard to stop the San Fran 49ers. Alex Smith is still struggling and although they got a few more targets for him they still are not dangerous in the passing game. So you stack 8 men in the box make sure Frank Gore doesnt get off on you and FORCE Smith to beat you and more than likely he will not be able to.

Also - he is not nearly as talented as LT or LJ, not even close. LT is by far the best back in the game there is no questioning it and to say that LT cannot repeat last years success shows ignorance, he has been doing this for the last 3-5 years now. I know last year was his "best" year ever but even his "worst" year within the last 5 years is still MVP type numbers. He is a much more complete back than Gore, he passes for TD's, the best receiving RB in the game, and the best runner in the game. He knows exactly what to do at all times and is the ultimate team player. LJ is an absolute beast and although he did carry 416 times last season he is very young and that was only his second season as a full time starter, he can handle it. Eric Dickerson was a beast for MANY MANY years not just 2 as you would suggest with LJ. Depending on who steps in as their QB next season he should have an even better year, they were horrible through the air last season and they WILL get better under Herm Edwards offensively (i know he is a defensive guy but he does know offense).

Frank Gore is a 1200 yd back next season, dont expect the same results. I see Ladainian Tomlinson as the top guy for MVP next season and after him i have to go with the obvious choices of LJ, Peyton, Brady and my outside guys include Torry Holt (addition of Randy McMichael and Drew Bennett will REALLY open up Holt) and Willis McGahee (going to a run first offense is gonna produce huge numbers, ala Jamal Lewis and his 2000 yd season there under Billick). Frank Gore - not sold on his "greatness" and his worthiness of being tossed in MVP discussions, he is a solid back and will play hard and put up great numbers but he isnt an MVP caliber player, not yet.

Gore is a very talented back. He does have the talent but the main question is. WIll the Niners line hold up and help him out? LT and LJ both have amazing lines and blockers. Gore didn't have much of either last season. So I say as long as the starters for San Fran stay healthy and they pick up another FB gore will deffinately win the rushing title.

I think Gore is an Elite Back, but I don't see him winning the MVP or rushing title. He may be worthy of the MVP but I think the PR won't be there. I don't think he'll get the Rushing title just based on the 49ers offence. He's great though. I had him on my fantasy team last year, and would love to get him again.

He got no respect last year. This year teams will respect him more and he might still win the rushing title, but almost uncertain for Mvp. Lack of touchdowns and not being on a great team. Maybe the 49ers can win their division this year and it would be exciting to see, but Mvp for Gore?..

If Shawn Alexander can stay healthy this year, we will hav an interesting rushing group. LT, Gore, Alexander, Larry Johnson.

Gore is proving to be great and I think he has a good chance to take the title. Assuming LT slows down a bit.

He could win a rushing title, but unless the 49ers are a playoff contender, I don't see an NFL MVP for him this year.

What planet are you from?
LT is a legend in his own time.
This is not the only year he has done good.
He does good every year.
He is consistent.
Everyplayer knows LT and they're all trying to stop him in every game and they just can't do it.
Nobody even compares to LT.

That being said I think Gore is a great RB - but he's no LT.

I don't think MVP is likely. There are too many dominant players in the AFC. However, I think it's very likely that he'll get NFC Offensive Player of the year or whatever it's called.
