I can hardly believe how the years are begining to fly by now that I have reached 50, Is it an illusion ?

It really is an illusion as the time hasn't changed only you have changed. When starting life you look ahead to maybe 100 years but as years roll by the distance ahead is getting shorter. I also expect that at 50 you are filling your time more with both work and play so you do not notice the passage of time. When you reach 60 there is another acceleration in perceived time.
When you eventually retire it can go one of two ways. If you have nothing to do except watch all day television the time will hang heavily, the same if you are are long term ill. If, like me you fill almost every minute of the day with interesting things like using the PC, playing golf or tennis, country walking and so on, the time is going at such a rate as to make past events a blur.
Whatever you do in the future just knuckle down and enjoy your life.
Happy Easter

Time passes more quickly as you get older since fewer things are "new" to you like when you were younger. Try to take a step back and enjoy moments, little things. Keep your innocence and an open mind. But, I know, time does seem to be passing more quickly. It slowed down for me when I travelled in Europe, where in a lot of places the pace is slower and there is more emphasis and family, friends, and life, and less on the daily grind. Tomorrow is a new day; enjoy it and many to come.

I heard something on the radio about this, apparently the days etc. seem longer when we are young because we are learning new things all the time. So to make time slow down again start learning something new. I've gone back to uni and this has worked for me.

no it happens a lot. I read that one guy in his eighties said that at that age breakfast seems to come around every ten minutes!

Do some unusual things to break the routine. Learn a different hobby or something.

My school years seemed to last an enternity, and they still hold a large percentage of my memories.
I think that as you get older life becomes calmer and slightly more repetative so there aren't as many milestone memories in everyday life.

As long as you still enjoy it and don't think yourself old then hey - there's still more to come.

It's a numbers game, when you one, and go to two, damn, thats what 1/2.? Try for one go to 50. 1/50th. Little shorter. See what I mean. go to 70, time just whizzes by.

when you start to think like this it means that you are realising just how small you compared to the rest of the world and that we are just little pawns living our routines... when i was a kid the street that i lived was bigger then the world but now the world is a small as the street that i lived on

Time keeps on slipping into the future.

Yeah, I get bored, but this is eliminated by preoccupation.
