well everyting has its own +ve n -ve things: to convince ur frnd of the useful of net, just bring him here at answers.com n tell him dat it solves all querries!

ny way i participate in a debate in dis mattern here is its content, it might b useful 4 u:

Has Internet become havoc for Indian kids? This is the most preposterous notion I’ve ever heard. Good Afternoon one and all, I Mohit Khanna representing Guru Tegh Bahadur Public School stand here to firmly oppose such a ridiculous and a bizarre idea.

For most of my fellow opponents, Internet is a curse and is merely a way of weakening eyesight and giving an invitation to backache. According to them, children waste most of their time by sitting in front of the computer, playing games on the net or downloading music. And there is no perimeter to such pessimistic and cynical thoughts.
But for me, even the idea of Internet being a bane is absolutely absurd. How can anyone obligatorily impose one of the biggest inventions of the 21st centaury as the biggest disfigurement for the children? The facility of Internet is in fact an incredibly powerful tool that offers Indian juvenile unprecedented opportunities to learn and grow. Unfathomable oceans of knowledge are being generated and are becoming accessible through innumerable servers of the Internet.
Through the concept of Online Education, the students can apply for a course, get study material on the Internet and ultimately a degree certificate and that too while sitting at home. Through online conferences all querries of students can be instantaneously resolved by teachers and experts from all over the world. Moreover Digital Libraries and online encyclopaedias enable students to have multiple access to enormous amount of data at a single click of their mouse In fact the government schemes like“ Operation Knowledge” and the “Bidyarti Computer Scheme” prove how beneficial Internet is.
Yet for most of my worthy opponents Internet is the biggest cause for the children getting less mark in examinations. But I’d like to enlighten them that sites like preexams.com prepare Indian students for their final examinations. These sites do not spoil children with “guess” question papers but prepare questions on the basis of the past examinations and then allow the child to assess himself.
Besides Internet is exceptionally valuable in presenting the results of most of the imperative examinations conducted in the Nation- the benefit of which is expoited not by just me and you but also by my praiseworthy opponents who inadvertently say that Internet is blight for an Indian child.
I’d like to remind you dear listeners that Internet is not a boon just in the field of education but it has many more rewards too.

For instance, Blogs, forums and chatrooms enable children to maintain their digital diaries, seek solution to problems which they would normally feel ashamed to speak about in open and to make new friends who share common interests from across the world. The positive cyclogical effects of these on children can by no means be overlooked.
Before I conclude, I’d like to inquire of my opponents, how many of them did not use the facility of Internet for finding matter for this debate. Hardly one, two may be three participants. What about the others? They did utilize the benefit of the Internet and ironically to prove that the Internet has no benefits but is a curse for the Indian children. And this is certainly an extremely excruciating contemplation.
I hope that my humble words have aroused much conscious in you all and that a sincere step in encouraging and improving Internet facilities for the children shall surely be made.

Thank You.

that's what the employer might such as you to think of, or perhaps you're component of the employer. like another walk of existence there is fraud on the information superhighway, yet that's an relatively small component of it. the internet is a impressive rigidity for freedom of counsel, communique and training that's clearly no longer important to you. the internet is a medium the place elementary human beings can get the information out to the lots straight away, by using fact the mainstream media controls and suppresses the information. The powers that be desire to close down the internet by using fact it particularly is a wager to the employer.

Actually I am doing a research paper about online crimies, to but it blunty the internet isn't really safe as it used to be. You could people stealing credits, passwords from others, you got people uploading viruses through a computer, oyu have people hacking into other computers. You have perverted pedofiles trying score some action in community sites. You have people stalking other people through chat rooms, emails, IM and other stuff.

The only safe part about getting on the net is looking some information or learning something about the safest thing you can do on the net.

well dear,
i m 20 year old guy and i started net surfing in 13 years of my age. no one taught me abt how to use or surf internet..i learned everything self. now u asked why people see the internet as a powerhouse of crimes...so i tell u everything frm my experiences..
dear, what happens,,there are two faces of a coin,,one is 'head' and other is 'tell'. similarly in this world there are two kind of people...one is 'good' and rest are 'bad'.
now as we know internet is the best way of communication, sharing knowledge and a treasure of knowledge...but there are some bad factors like adult contents,virus/piracy,cyber crimes, frauds, etc. which are done by bloody people by using internet...they misuse there knowledge...that's why ur parents and other people think that the child should keep away from it...but i don't think so...i think that parent should encourage their children to surf the internet but only in their supervision...they can use the softwares which disable the unappropriate contents on ur computer...
as well as they should encourage u to study, share ur ideas through internet..i think this should be best way of learning..
now i think u r satisfied wid my answer..
thanks ...take care.. bye....

Show them YouTube and places like Yahoo Answers and show how people can collaborate and share. Explain how the communities rate videos, thumb up/down answers, and report people with easy abuse buttons, etc like a neighborhood watch. Don't just say "look i can put my picture/video online". Involve them in what you do. Make them a an account somewhere so they can rate what they like. They don't necessarily have to submit content but if they enjoy it they will like it or accept it better. I like rating videos on YouTube. I like digging articles on Digg and become obsessed ever since I got an account so I was able to interact. Yet I don't video blog or blog much at all or feel the need to. Anyways just sit them next to you and let them watch how it works.

the only reason the net is an "unsafe" place is because of some of the adult content, viruses/spyware, and personal information people put out there. if you don't post your personal information on any websites, you're not at risk for anything. at your young age, just dont be talking to anyone you don't know or are suspicious of. thats all.

well, it IS a powerhouse of crimes with the hackers, viruses and all. But it is also an information superhighway. Where else can we get information about practically anything?
The Net is a safe place once you install anti-abuse, anti-spam & anti-virus s/w. :)
