No, I just did this a few months ago and didn't lose everything. The way I understood it, is that RAM is the memory that your computer uses while it is currently working (i.e. if you open a program or document, it uses the memory of the RAM to work, not the memory that you normally think of)

Upgrading your RAM will not lose your documents saved on your hard drive.. They are two different things.. That is as long as you saved them before installing the RAM

No. Your saved documents on your hard disk are safe.
RAM is working memory, which means for example if you are typing out a document, that *unsaved* document currently resides in RAM -- if you were to lose power at that point you would lose your document.

No.
But you'll need to find out what type/speed and latency your memory is. This can be complicated when getting into the Spanking brand new DDR2 memory.
Take it to a GOOD computer store and ask if they can pop the lid and see what kind of memory you need.
They will also find out the maximum amount of memory your laptop can support.

Nope.
just make sure you're grounded before you reach inside your laptop so you don't accidently deliver a static spark to your mother board or your new RAM.

yes you will. but there is a way you can avoid that. you can put any files you want to "live" in a folder, and put it on another computer. and then when you upgrade thy RAM just send the folder back. quick. easy. effective.

no you won't
RAM is just what your processor uses to process data.
Harddisk is the one where u store data
don't worry, as long as your HDD is safe, your Data should be there

That has nothing to do, with your hard drive. It won't effect them at all.
