The question is that starting a few days ago, they started having me go to lunch earlier. Then this week, they had me just bag the groceries, but not help the customers out to their car,They had other co workers called"greeters",do that.plus, they hired more courtesy clerks, which is fine, but when it slows down,it makes it difficult for me,because I can''t do anything else except bag the groceries. It makes me feel like I don't belong at Ralphs anymore.Do you think I should tell the store director how I feel,if I do tell her,how should I tell her how I feel without sounding like I'm just complaining,or making waves?I'm almost to the point, that i would leave right away,if I had another job lined up It makes me feel uncomfortable at work right now.

I think you need to tell the store manager that you are feeling like there are sometimes you feel out of place and maybe they could find a few other things for you to do. I would definitly bring it up and then take the initiative to look around and do some "busy" work while you are slow. Like straighten up the area and maybe even clean up a bit. That would help others to.

Line up the other job. You just got to conclude that they don't want you on the courtesy desk any more. Work intensely to get the other job, focusing on your experience on courtesy. Just before you leave, you might ask -- but I don't expect that you'll like the answer. And, if you do like the answer, your new job may give you some leverage in making sure your days as a bagger are numbered.

Talk to your immediate supervisor. Tell him/her that you like to multi task, and as if you can be trained to do other things besides bag. That way you are more valuable to Ralphs.

If they don't want to cross train you, maybe you'll want to look for something new. But it sounds like you may be a little over reacting to their hiring decisions. And you also just like to be busy, nothing wrong with that!

Tell her you need to stay busy. That is never going to be offensive to an employer, and it's the absolute truth. If she doesn't give you a good response, then ask for feedback on your performance. She will be impressed that you care so much.
