Pumpkins are usually harvested after the first frost. Their colors may be anything from green to dark orange. Rap on the pumpkin for a hollow sound and be sure to leave at least a four to five inch "handle" for the top of the pumpkin. It makes it easier to carry and move around. The first frost seasons the pumpkin.
