I met this 19 cute, so handsome guy while I was having lunch. It was love from the first sight. We introduced ourselves, talked and of course exchanged numbers. Later, he told me that he loved me. However, I am in love with another straight guy who wanted me to be only his best friend. My heart is already broken. I am not ready. I do not want to break the young boy's heart.

I'll pass on some advice as a gay man in his 30s.

1. Learn to develop appropriate boundaries with your straight male friends. These friendships are valuable. But yeah, if somone is a straight guy, he's not going to develop romantic feelings for you even if he cares about you as his best friend. It will end up ruining the friendship if you keep trying to push things -- if he's accepting of your sexuality, you also need to be accepting of his. You'll get the same in reverse when you are friends with girls. And yes, this is easier said than done.
2. When you do meet another gay guy you like (as in this case), take a chance to see how things work out. It might be worth explaining that you were hurt recently and might need to go a bit slow in developing the relationship. Best to be honest -- I'm sure he'll get where you are coming from.

Hope that helps. Getting yourself to move on from a broken heart is ultimately the best thing. Just be honest about it.

if the first guy is just a (best) friend and straight, then you should try to get the 19 year old to fall in love with you. If the straight friend is really a friend, he will understand and wish you the best.

Don't worry so much over things. The only thing you need to do at this time is be his friend and just hangout with him. Don't go in with intentions of dating... just be friends and everything will happen naturally. If you guys are into each other then you will both be happy with each other and if it doesn't workout romantically then you will either remain good friends or just go your separate ways.

I don't think you're gonna break his heart after knowing him for only a short time.

tell him that you unfortunately don't love him, but you are going to do your best to make things work well.... pretty soon you'll find out you love him too...
