Whenever it rains, my office will blackout just before we hear the thunder.

We haven't got an electrician to check but our air-con service men said that the problem should solve if we switch to a lower sensitive 'something'.

I forgot what's the name, but it concerns the voltage tolerence before the electricity trips.

What You need is a Delta Lightning Arrestor installed on Your Power Breaker Box. It's about the finest one on the Market, and it's less than $ 50 . I've not had any Problems since I got Mine. You've got to know something about Wiring if You're going to do it Yourself. The Company is known as Delta Lightning Arrestors, Inc. , and They're based in Big Spring Texas. I don't have their Website, but You don't have to Order from them. Just Call around to Your Local Electrical Supply Dealers to find out who Carries it in Your Area. There are several different Types, for Residential and Commercial applications. I got Mine at Womack Electric , located in Goldsboro, North Carolina, and put it in Myself. If You don't know what you're doing, You can get seriously Injured. What's probably happening is that when You have a Power Surge as a Result of Lightning, the Breaker that is Connected to Your Office gets Tripped. It is also Possible that Your Breaker Switch has become Weak, and therefore Trips too easily, and needs to be Replaced. They do wear out, as there is a Spring Loaded Mechanism inside. With Experience, You can Flip the Switch back & Forth, and actually tell by feel that it's getting Weak. I've also had to Replace Mine. There's no way You're going to get a "Magic Wand" Solution to this Problem. It's going to take someone with some Knowledge of Electrical Systems to solve Your Problem. Wish I could Help, but I'm several Thousand Miles away from You. I Hope this Info Helps, though.
