after going to visit my children 3000 miles away after four years of separation I am going through horrible homesickness and depression. Any word of wisdom from parents who have experienced this on how to cope and make this any easier?

THIS is how my granny dealt with it.SHE belonged to a local church.SHE would Go to church and visit the nursery and hug the mothers and the babies. YOU have no idea what that meant to those moms going through tuff times raising their kids. SHE said she was sad and needed a daughter in the LORD to love. Well word got out and sure enough there were 6 young girls that needed a mother figure in their life. AFTER that granny had no time 2 be lonely. I hope this helped.

There is no answer to relieve you. I am sorry. What you must do, is keep the knowledge that you and your children will be together again, and call them as much as you can. I don't know why you are separated from your kids, and you shouldn't be, but more important than what you feel, is what your kids feel. You must always let them know how much you love them, and that you are there for them, no matter what. From what you say, you MUST deal with it. Make them gifts, like cards, or buy toys, and mail them to them with a loving letter. Send pictures of yourself of where you are. Teach them about the place you are in. They will love and respect you for it. Contact them through whatever means you have, phone, letters, visiting them. Never let them out of your life. Bless.

I am going through something similar to you. Well to start off I have 2 girls, Oldest is 7 years, and youngest is 2. I left them with a close family member of my husband and I. Due to that fact that we had to move to a new country, and I wanted them to get to spend time with both our families. I have been away from them for almost 5 months now, this was the hardest thing for me to ever do, it really was. I could never see myself with out my kids. Especially when my daughter cries at school, and she can't handle us being away from them.It breaks her heart and mine at the same time. We had to also move with out them so that we could have everything ready for our kids, so that they could be in the house. To be alone is hard, especially for a mother. To make my time pass and help me, I have many hobbies, painting, drawing, writing, sewing, and exercising. Plus another thing that helps me is talking to them every few days. I have this message that my sister in law sent me, my kids were talking and it was so cute. Sometimes I cry alot, because I really left them. I know that I will never leave them again though, because I feel I could never deal with that void in my life again.I live 5,400 miles away. Have you ever considered moving back there closer to them?IOr even moving them with you?A mothers love is precious, try to keep yourself occupied, meet new people, that always helps me.Be strong and do what your heart feels. You'll make a good decision for you and your kids.

Just take it with pride, slowly and never let them see you sweat. Been there and I was shaking at first, but a soon as we saw, embraced it was like a burden lifted. we hugged, cried and my heart never stopped racing, could feel it in my throat. Then all settled down.
Good luck my dear and just take it easy, and one day at a time. You will do just fine.

do you mean that you are missing your children? ohh that is so sad. i am a mother and have not gotten to that point in their lives yet, and am not looking forward to it at all, but just think positive things, things will be alright.
