I have a job where I will be the main correspondent for a party of 400, and the resort and kitchen staff they have employed to fullfill their needs over Passover. Kind of like a concierge or an event planner, except I didn't plan the event, I just need to make sure they get everything they want. The "party" is for the duration of Passover (about 10 days), and I'm wondering what I can get away with for shoes. I'm taking skirts, slacks, blouses, I have one jacket, but no real suits. Can I wear strappy or open toed shoes, or should I go buy some conservative pumps I'll probably never wear again. Help, please! I'm still learning good business fashion sense.

CLASSIC PUMPS!!!

And since it sounds like you will be on your feet quite a bit, do be comfortable! Naturalizer, 9 West and Aerosoles make very classic, stylish and comfy pumps that feel comfortable to wear 12 hrs. or longer (which is one of the main concerns for wearing closed-toe shoes, so no worries!)

Get a comfortable height - 1 3/4 inch, 2 inch, 2 1/2 inch max (three or higher will only give you back problems if you are working events all day on your feet!)

Get a neutral colored pair that go with all your outfits (slacks and skirts)...... beige/taupe, black, navy. But don't wear white pumps, even though it's Spring.... they will get dirty fast and if you are going to be as busy as it sounds, you don't want to have to worry about tarnishing a professional appearance with dirty shoes!

Good luck.... and put your best foot forward! :)

my opinion... is that shoes are shoes... closed toe may seem more professional. but that doesnt mean opened toes are trash. as long as it's nice and clean and you are comfortable wearing it then you should wear those. because from what ive read... it seems like you're gonna be standing and probably walking around a lot... and you dont want to wear a brand new pair and hurt your feet.
but for future convinences, you should try to look for some closed toes too cuz you never know when you're gonna need em and it's never a bad thing to be prepared.

If your clothes are already projecting a professional image, I don't see why you can't get away with wearing strappy or open toed shoes.

I personally wouldn't go open-toed but the strappy shoes sound fine to me. Why don't you go shopping for some closed toed shoes that are supper cute but still professional. Every girl never has enough shoes to go shopping for.lol :)
