I think they use clear wiring (it's really thin and you can't really see it) and most of the time, the smoke covers most of the things the magician would use to hide how they are doing the trick. It is very difficult just to hide one of the hidden tricks so you can be amazed and they make you wonder how they did that trick. Also, this is called a magicians secret - and it is a code where magicians don't want the audience know how their trick was done. Once you know the trick, you will want to try it on one of your friends.
