What is it like to work in one and what are the country club type places interested in as far as experience, and anything else?

Depends on the club, some will hire people with little or no experience, some want bar tenders with really high class experience.
Your best bet is to put together a resume, and call the Dining Room Manager or Matre'D (?) and ask how best to apply.
Country clubs have regular people who happen to have money and they also have complete snobs. I assure you the snobs are in the minority. Mostly they want to be left alone, want you to know your stuff. And when appropriate they like you to be humorous or a little entertaining. And like the above poster said, be discrete. You learn a lot about affairs and the what not, especially if you work in a mens only bar or womens only bar.
