Yes and No..
I know he was one of the spirit children of God, as we are.
He was known as "Son of the Morning", before he became known as "The DEVIL".
When His plan of salvation was rejected , and his brother Christ's plan was accepted, he became full of anger, and rebelled against supporting the plan, which God Our Eternal Father had chosen of Christs'.plan of Salvation.
Satan's further actions against God , his Eternal Father and Christ At that time started the WAR IN HEAVEN.. and As a result Heavenly Father cast out SATAN/ DEVIL and his followers down to Earth. Which was 1/3 of the host of heaven.who followed the devil..
This was a pre-mortal life, and since they were then spirits only, not having yet bodies, when cast out They will always exist as spirits., without bodies.
Where as those who followed and supported Christ's plan of salvation, (you and me) would come to the Earth as spirit to be born and gain a physical body. Thus to learn to develop faith in God, through free choice (free agency), live his commandments and return back to his presence.
Satan and his followers plan, is to destroy the Kingdom of God , by tempting us to disobey the words of God, The Eternal Fathers (Commandments). Thus keeping us in a state of Eternal bondage , and losing our Eternal reward after death of Eternal life.

If you believe the bible......everything comes and is created by God. Thus if indeed the Devil exists then he came from God.
The Bibe tells us that the Devil was an angel and he chose to cross God.
There is NO Devil dressed in red with a forked tail and a spear in his hand. That is just tall tales.
The Devil could actually be an angel gone bad or he might just represent anything that is absent from the presense of God.
I know conservatives would not agree with me on this.
.
The Bible says.....
In the begging was the word and the word was God and the word was with God and without God nothing was.

I'm sorry but the answer is Yes, and No. In the Book of Genesis discussion with my bible study for 9 months March--Nov. last year, we happened to discuss this. Basically here is what my pastor the teacher says; "Lucifer" was one of the high angels, (created and loved by God) and instead of being content to be God's right hand angel, he wanted God-like power for himself and led an angel revolt to gain such power. God could not let this traitorous deed go unpunished so all the traitor angels "fell" from Grace and were banished out of Heaven for ALL Eternity. And yes, "Lucifer" was given the underworld as his personal "prison" you might say. Isaiah 14 they say is a veiled reference to this.
However, you also need to note that this all took place a long time before God decided to make Adam & Eve. Time is a very relative thing in God's hands you see. The way it was explained to me the Creation of the world was done in "7 days", but that isn't a 24 hour day like we have now; each day was approximately 1,000 years. Which, is one of the ways you can account for dinosaurs if you believe in the faith. Also if you have faith and believe in Jesus then you need not fear Satan because God still holds Satan's leash. We have the Passion and Easter as the ultimate sacrifice for our spiritual selves and yet, Satan gets certain freedoms on the earth until Revelation comes to pass.
May God add His Blessing to your reading and understanding of what I said, and help you grow in Faith. :)

In the Genesis, there is no specific or implicit passages about the creation of the devil. However, as many do interpret the snake as evil and thus the devil, it can be justified that God created evil since He created the snake and placed it in the Garden of Eden. Have you ever heard of the cult of Bogamil?

Classical Christian theology would assert that the devil is a creature, and therefore exists because God created him/her. However, the devil was not created as evil, but was created as a spiritual being called an angel, which as consequence of his/her will, chose to reject his/her natural end-- which which was service to God, and through this act of will, lost friendship with God and suffered the corruption of his/her angelic nature.

There is the possibility that Lucifer was not created by God because there is a "we" reference in Genesis. Like God, he just was, with no beginning. The best account would be God created him and crowned him first among the angels. Then came the rebellion and deception.

We have made god into a strange creature, to the extent of making god create this evil force ruled by another creature as equally barbaric. If God made the devil and hell to send people to it for being "bad" than is not god just as bad. hmmm. Nature never punishes, It is a human invention.

Yes:
The candle must be lit before a shadow is cast. The shadow would not exist without the light, but there would be no need for light without a shadow.
God created ALL things. Angels and falliable emotions: Greed, love, hate, jealousy, curiosity, desire. These give motive and opportunities alike for those angels to fall.

God created an angel named lucifer. then he turned out to be rebellious and wanted to be like God. so he was transformed into satan "devil" and some angels followed him also in rebellion. all were casted out from heaven.
angels are cognizant beings also, so it was a choice of lucifer to be the devil. God did not create an angel so that there could be one which will rebel against Him. :)
