hmmm, sounds like someone has a term paper due....

ok, anyway. The significance of the seat perilous is that anyone who is unworthy of it will surely perish if they sit upon it. The Authorian legend relies heavily on Christian beliefs... it was said that only a person worthy of finding the grail could sit there but that person was to be nearly without sin. Galahad was such a knight, said to be free of worldly desires such as lust.

King Arthur would commemorate the Last Supper. The mysterious empty seat, known as the Siege Perilous (next to Arthur), belonged to his "right-hand man", the knight who would one day return with the Holy Grail. There was an inscription on the fabric over the empty chair that read "CCCCLIII - Hiemius Peractis . Post . Natum . Umn . Nostrum - I - C . Oportet . Hanc . Sede . Compleri" ; In the year of our Lord Ad 453 winter is over. It is right and proper for this seat to be occupied", meaning that "the dark days are over, the Holy Grail ( the cup of light ) has been found".

I should know---I'm the one that found it. The Devil.
