Well as I read this my initial thought was "are you kidding me, no!" then I started thinking about it more and coming from my profession you have to do that from time to time. So I eventually landed on the spot in my mind (after passing GO and collecting my $200) that provided the opinion that it really matters what the shirts design pattern is. If it's a plain black shirt then it could possibly be okay, however then you are posed with the problem of matching the black of your shirt and pants perfectly and then of making sure the tie isn't to bright and just stands out with a flag that says "i'm an idiot". So I propose this solution, and that is that you should get a patterned black shirt, preferably with some sort of minor green pattern within it, not to much of course becuase being as the tie you are choosing to wear is already the main piece you don't want the two to mix to much with eachother. If these suggestions fail you, feel free to email me with this and any further questions you may have becuase i'm seeing that everyone who is answering isn't really thinking deeply about it. And please answer my question to you, which is... why a green tie? and also, how bright is it? my motto with that would be "to bright isn't to good"

I like it. Very simplistic yet stylish. Everyone knows that black is a neutral and there for really can go with anything. Wearing black with black has a very Johnny Cash feel to it, dark mysterious. Adding the little bit of color with the green in the tie will look great. Ties draw the eye up ward and having it be green will be attention grabbing and draw people's focus to you while you are talking. What color are your features, you might also consider something that really compliments your skin, hair and eyes. Otherwise, green is a color anyone can wear, and wear well. Good choice, what's it for anyways? Hope this helped!

Definitely good match. As black pant + shirt will be a little bit dull but when match with an outstanding green colour tie, will bring out the life. Cool

Yeah, that sounds like it'd look good. My friend Jake wore that that to an orchestra concert he preformed at, and his tie was a silky one he got from show choir, so it was a bright green. It looked good though.
