If I am behind a router and a firewall is it possible for my ISP to detect that I am using a P2P program???

yes. my ISP got my using that and uTorrent, and they sure a hell let me know.

They would most likely only take notice if you started using massive bandwidth. Like 200 gigs a month.

I have been bit torrenting for a long time and not a peep.
