I am writing a paper for a college class on Gustavo Arellano's column, Ask A Mexican! Please let me know what you think, I would like to know what the people out there think. 1. How does this column reflect the Mexican and American community. Is it positive or negative? 2. Does this column help non-Mexicans understand Mexicans or make them look bad? Please let me know what you think!

You have to take everything he writes with a grain of salt...

1. How does this column reflect the Mexican and American community. Is it positive or negative?
Gustavo reinforces many of the stereotypes... but if some of it weren't just a little bit true, then it may not have become a stereotype in the first place. (As a Mexican, I see it as humor with some truth/observations mixed in but of course it would be offensive if this column were written by an Anglo... Hence "Ask a Mexican".)

2. Does this column help non-Mexicans understand Mexicans or make them look bad?
I think if non-Mexicans were to take his writings as TRUTH, they aren't intellectually capable of appreciating Gustavo's humor. Oh yeah, the Mexicans with the chips (pronounced "sheeps") on their shoulders don't find it as funny either. go figure!

Either positive or negative depending on the view point of the individual. I find that most journalist say what they believe.
Anyway, I love to go to Mexican Restaurants like El Cholo in LA.
Located on the 1100 block of Western Ave. A couple block away from Olympic.

I think it is more negative than positive, and often seems to contain culturally biased opinions.

Mexico is muy bien!
