You have to get another Driver's License for another state - you'll need it for work & driving long term. You'll be able to keep nj card & tx card.

Anyone with a valid driver's license who move to Texas from another state have 30 days to obtain a Texas Driver License. To apply, licensed applicants (18 years and older) must do the following:
Provide proof of identity
A Social Security number
Proof of Texas vehicle registration
Liability insurance (if you own a vehicle)
Complete necessary documentation at any Texas Driver License office.
Pay a fee of $24.00
Pass a vision exam
They may ask you to surrender your old out-of-state license.
*(But let them know you still need it & will go back.)*

If you are unlicensed or have an expired out-of-state license, then you must pass written and driving exams as well as the vision test.
