It depends on the model of machine that you have. Some have clips that hold the top to the base which a screwdriver can be inserted into the seam and popped up. Go to
www.repairclinic.com. You maybe able to get an idea, from their web site, how it comes apart. You can look up your machine by the model number.

Depends on the brand of Dryer. On the Whirlpool Kenmore models, you take 2 screws where the lint filter goes in. On Maytag , they have spring clips . You can push in with a puuty knife or flat blade screwdriver. On Ge/ Hotpoint, there are usually 2-4 screw to remove that are accessible from the door opening. Good luck
