I personally feel they are little more than a disgrace and should have been caged and shot themselves.

As far as I know it is illegal. The last I heard to have a legal Lion hunt the lion has to be released into a enclosure/camp of no less than 2000 hectares at least 2 months prior to the hunt. The lion has to be self sufficient, i.e able to hunt, not fed at a certain location and the hunt has to take place on foot.

It may vary from province to province though.

I have a friend who is a professional hunter, said he was on a real lion hunt once in Botswana, was the scariest experience of his live. Said he will never do it again no matter what is offered.

He told me of Americanans hunting on his farm telling stories of hunting mountain lion in Americ. Apparently they sit in their offices until they get a phone call that a mountain lion has been spotted and chased by the hunting dogs into a tree. He then flies down and shoot it. It just seems like murder to me!!

That is barbaric and disgusting. that's not hunting its slaughter for a hide.

the story of the Americans shooting mountain cats up trees is just as bad - but then the guys hunting the lions in the cages are probably Americans paying through their necks for the experience.

the other thing I can't abide is hunters going after all sorts of game with night vision goggles and telescopic lenses on their rifles - what kind of sport is that? does the animal stand even half a chance?

To answer your question Innocenta, there is huge bucks to be made from hunting but as is described by Pete. Not really a clever thing to do though hunting lion !!!!!!

I agree with JD...put them in the cages and let the lions deal with them. Do they still allow people from overseas to come over and pay to hunt animals as a sport?
