For one it's a volunteer military there weren't forced to join unlike Vietnam. If anything The Vietnam war should have stood as an example that people fight and die in controversial wars. Making people realize that when a person joins they might be going to a war which isn't defending our country.
However I will say this nation has a huge divide over the war and it's due to this administration. This administration had led people to believe that the war on Iraq is the war on terrorism.
Having a heart is not a requirement to be an American! Politics are complicated enough without put an emotional spin.

They Volunteered to serve our country - they didn't volunteer to serve our oil needs/Bush and Cheney's power trips egomaniacal ways, etc.
