Is theres not possibly a more humane alternative or areas where the elephants can be transported? Surely other reserves throughout Southern Africa may have a home for them?
I understand the fact that when their numbers are too great they cause a great deal of damage but do believe alternatives must be explored.

The problem is two fold - one the elephants feel safe and propagate really well in the Kruger Park and so there ends up being too many elleies for too little space

and

Two there are too many people on the continent and so their natural habitat is being reduced each year.

What would be more cruel would be to kill have a family and leave the rest to mourn, because they do mourn. So the whole family must be eliminated in one go. As quickly and humanly as possible.

Sad, very sad but they have relocated as many as they can for the moment and there is no other alternative.

I wish that they had more areas to transport them to but humans have destroyed their habitat. Now that their home is gone what little is left can't sustain but so many. Don't get me wrong I love elephants. I'm even starting a roots and shoots program for kids and teen-agers to learn about wildlife conservation. and to raise money for both Steve Irwin's wildlife warriors and Jane Goodall's programs. It's like an evil that now that we created a problem for the elephant we sadly must watch out so that there is enough land left to support what it is left of the animal population.
If I could I would build more sanctuaries. However, they eat their weight in leaves and bark a day. It would take a large effort to do so. Maybe in the future we can replace what was lost. What are your ideas?

it fairly is a tragic actuality, yet every person who somewhat LOVES and is familiar with the South African eco-gadget is unquestionably-known with that culling is a mandatory evil- we are in a position to't be sentimental approximately conservation. i could propose that culling be carried out provided that properties would desire to no longer be discovered for the elephants someplace else in Africa or a minimum of in good zoos.
