well there are some that are raised to be faithful, but as they continuously have their hearts broken, they realize that the jerks, have it better... and they give up on trying to find a decent woman, and we also loose the capacity to trust

Oh there have been shows about this..... and the general consensus is true (as in the most of the animal kingdom) - there is a need to spread their seed. This has nothing to do for them regarding emotional commitment at all, it's physiological. It sucks. But it's life.

Granted, there are men who have the fear of God in them and don't stray, probably, but it's a rare thing. And being faithful doesn't only have to do with physical/sexual, but emotional/psychological, too. Men can cheat 'above the waist' - with cyber affairs or 900 numbers or whatever, for their ego boosting, etc., without so much as guilt.

Women have the chemical factor of 'falling in love' - when they have physical relations - oxytocin and phenylethlamine (sp?) chemicals enter the brain, which develops emotional attachment. Men don't have this.

In the end (and I say this because - when you look at the big picture in life, that's all you have) - you have to think about how you show up in life (and this goes across the board for men and women - afterall, who do men cheat with?... other women!)

If your inner core values are solid and you want truth, trust, faithfulness and monogamy, you may have to deal with, either staying with a man who either has cheated, or will cheat someday (either out of boredom, or feeling his own mortality, or he is sick of dealing with a house full of kids and diapers and does it to feel alive again, a midlife crisis or whatever), or be alone. There is no middle ground, unfortunately.

Life alone can be good with friends and family, your integrity and self-assured values. But that's a choice you will make for yourself. Some women thrive on being alone.

Other women stay for just the companionship (as do men, stay in the relationship, but with the cake/have it, too scenario). Perhaps the Will & Grace scenario is the most ideal of the Gay man, straight woman - you always have a friend, and you expect him to always be sexually with others....LOL :)

But anyway, food for thought.

Monogamy is a tradition.
It is genetic for males especially in mammals to breed with each receptive female. Some males actually feel the desire more than others, which causes what we call "cheating". So that is why "some" guys can't be faithful. Much of it comes from upbringing too.

Some guys can be faithful and some can't. And that goes the same for girls.

I cannot generalise, but 98% of men are not capable of being faithful, must be something in their genetic makeup.
Even if they are in a committed relationship and temptation is there, they will take the opportunity to be unfaithful.
Look what happened with Adam and Eve.
