If you do not chart or monitor your fertility in any way, and you think you may have conceived, you should wait 19 days (or longer) after having sex to test. Why 19?! Sperm can live approximately 5 days in the proper environment; if the sperm managed to live until you popped an egg, the actual conception could have taken place several days after the sex act that got the sperm there. To make sure you're not testing too early, assume the sperm had very long lives (5 days is considered a very long sperm life) and that conception occurred then. Then allow 14 days for the embryo to implant and develop enough hCG to show up on a pregnancy test (96% of pregnant women will test positive by then.)

It will take AT LEAST 2 weeks from the sex act for the preganncy to show up on most urine tests, including the ones used by doctors. Blood tests may show within a week. But I do want to tell you that it's very unlikely you were fertile at this time, since most women are fertile about 14 days after the first day of their period. It's possible, but not likely, that you'll get pregnant at this time. What you CAN do is take Plan B as son as possible. Even if you were ovulating, the actual conception often doesn't take place untl 24-72 hours after the sex act, and if taken before conception, Plan B can prevnt the pregnancy from ever starting, so you don't have to worry. The pill can make your period early or late, but it's 89% effective in preventing pregnancy if taken within 72 hours. That would be your best course of action, rather than sitting around for 2 weeks waiting to see if you'll conceive and it will show up on a test. Go out and prevent conception. It's not too late...but be more careful next time, Plan B should not be taken as regular birth control...get on the pill AND continue to use condoms to avoid future mishaps. Best of luck to you, I know it's scary but you'll be fine!

If you are sure you would not want a baby now you could get emergency contraception (the morning after pill), you have 72 hours (from sexual intercourse) to take it but it is more efficient if taken in the first 24 hours. It is just 2 tablets but if you take the first you MUST take the second, there is no half measures with this.

To get the morning after pill you will have to see what is in you area, you local emergency department should be able to help or a family planning clinic could advise you. Also a sexual health clinic should be able to send you in the right direction.

If you wait and do a urine test you will have to wait a number of days, even a week or more, before the hormones will be present to give a positive test.

To answer your question i agree with the other girls wait at least 2 weeks - 19 days before you check otherwise it will not show up. But also, me and my man are currently trying to conceive and my doctors advice was that if you really want to conceive there is no point in having sex just after your period finishes as you are not ovulating then. Your chances of falling pregnant are very slim, although stranger things have happened it is quite unlikely! If you dont want to conceive, maybe you should go on the pill! or some other kind of contraception.

It takes about two weeks after conception to show the hormone detected in pregnancy tests... you need to wait a while. I know its hard, if your really scared take plan B

well if you are really scared then you can take the morning after pill...but chances are you didnt get pregnant since its the last day of your period and your not ovulating..but you never know.
if your late for your next period of start to develop symptoms then take a test...but for now its too soon to know.
Good luck!
