For those of you that don't know, Iran siezed 15 Brittish servicemen. Iran claims there were in Iranian waters while the Brits maintain they were in Iraqi waters.
Who do you believe?

If you think the waters are disputed, why would the Iranians choose now to start a conflict?

I believe it's a show of force on Iran's part, regardless if they're right or wrong. Think about that. Right or wrong, they are holding onto them getting confessions and toying with the West.
They've done this before back in 2004 forcing British sailors and marines to confess on television blindfolded before being released after 3 days.
It's part of their propaganda machine. It's also partly in retaliation for us capturing some members of their Republican Guard found in Iraq helping insurgents. Being right or wrong doesn't matter when you look at the larger picture - they just needed an excuse.

eh... the thing about the middle east (well actually a lot of the world is still like this)... is you ask two countries where there "borders" are... you will get two different answers on the same "border area"... sometimes very different answers...
now... that's not an excuse to keep the soldiers though... at best, it was probably disputed territory so they just need to understand the misunderstanding... give a stern warning, maybe talk it over, give the soldiers back and move on...
only trouble can really come out of keeping them...and just as the UK was getting out of the area... does Iran REALLY want to pull them back in with an actual GOOD REASON?

It's such a mess to get into it.. The waters there are not confirmed to be Iraqi or Iranian, they are still disputed, so it's almost impossible to say.
I'd like to believe us in the UK (being english myself), but it does seem like such a blatent excuse to begin a military campaign against Iran.
Perhaps the Iranians made a mistake, as their positioning technology isn't as accurate as ours.. This is speculation mind, I honestly don't know.
Neoconfire- Do you have a link to back up your claim that there is GPS proof? How do you know that wasn't just for the HMS Cornwall, not the scouting boats?

I definitely believe the Brits. They have better technology and they are our allies. It is clear that the Iranians want to shake up the West, but they don't necessarily want war. They just want the attention, to feel like they are a force to be reckoned with.

The British have proof(GPS) and satellite proof that they were hijacked by those war mongering Iranians.

The Iranians.
Actually I don't care about either. Both are war mongering countries who wish to dominate their neighbors.
