At school we always had to, that's the norm here in the Netherlands. And no, kids don't have a lot of athlete's foot!

I went to a gym briefly and went barefoot a few years ago, but I didn't keep it up, using all those treadmills and such was so boring. They told me I'd have to wear shoes in the free weights area but I wasn't interested in using those anyhow, since I came for the cardio stuff rather than strength training.

Ever drop a weight on a bare foot?? Seems to hurt worse. On the other hand, most of our karate students train barefoot, since they get a better "grip" on the floor. Some of my friends prefer running barefoot, too.

Yes, usually.. depends on the activity. B'ball can get hard on the feet due to the shock of landing after a jump. But for track and all outside field day activities I'm always bf'n it. Only way to fly! And I normally stay bf for the rest of the school day too, except for in the bathrooms.
