Sorry to offer more conflicting information but... DON'T use baby powder when your baby has a yeast infection. It stops the skin from ventilating properly and only makes the infection worse.
A cream used externally is very unlikely to cause vomiting in your son, so I agree with the suggestion of a virus, but you can stop the cream (and probably have)if you are worried. The instructions on the tube are to stop people using the cream on children and babies without seeking medical advice due to the side-effects of skin irritation that may occur. Although your son's skin may get temporarily worse, the infection will get better. This is why you only use a small amount, a certain number of times a day (probably twice) and definitely not every diaper change.
Change his diapers every two hours or so (and obviously whenever necessary in between times) and the best diaper cream I know, contains zinc and Castor oil. Since I'm in NZ the brand is unlikely to of any use sorry!

your baby had a yest infection, and sounds like maybe somekind of virus, there are so many going around right now.
try the cream again later when he seems to be felling a little better and see what happens, also don't use the cream at every diaper chance, if you haven't already there is a very good cream called Triple Paste, it won't help a yeast infection, but use it in between. Like one change use the yeast cream and the next two or three use the Triple Paste, Good Luck, and I hope your son feels better soon.

Your son had a yeast infection, and that's why the doctor told you to use that medicine. My son's yeast infections were treated the same way, but my doctor wrote a script for a specific concentration of the medicine.

I'm assuming that you used the cream on the diaper area, and washed your hands well after?

I'd say call your doctor. Or perhaps visit another.

The best cure for diaper rash is to allow your baby to go diaper free when you can. For example after you bathe your baby allow him/her to lay without a diaper for a while. If you do this a couple a times a day along with frequent diaper changes, you should see a dramatic improvement within a day. Diaper rash (and yeast infection) is caused by moisture, so the air is what the bottom needs.
I, personally would not use that cream again if there was any question that it made my baby ill. I would discontinue use and contact the doctor.

Some diaper rashes may be fungal. Clotrimazole will help if it is fungal. My baby suffered from diaper rash so I mixed 1/2 normal rash cream and 1/2 Clotrimazole and applied it.It did work. Every baby is different though. Goodluck

Most drugs, if not all say not to use in children under 12 unless told to by a doctor.

on Wikipedia.com is said the only side effect Occasionally may cause localised irritation of the skin with a mild burning sensation, redness and itching.

On tthhivclinic.com is said the side effect such as nausea or vomiting would happen if the drug was taken by mouth (as a liquid or tablet).

I would ask your doctor about it and my mother always told me the BEST person to ask about medications and there side effects would be a Pharmacists, since that is there job to know about drugs.
