My friend has two Red eared Sliders

The females are Larger than the males
They have shorter tails
They have shorter claws
You should be able to tell by the time that they are 6months to a year in age.

two of my roomies also have turtles

Here are vids showing them. Hope this helps. By all means post a link for a pic, and I'd take a look at it for you.

Sexing a turtle is easy. The female has a flat bottom of her carapace, and the male has a concave area to accommodate mating. However, you should NEVER turn a turtle upside down. A turtles skeleton is very different from ours in that it's spine and rib cage are it's shell, and it's organs are suspended within, Turning one upside down risks dislodging or damaging the internal organs.

Well i know you have to take off its shell, and when you do that you will see its ding-dong. Just dont hurt it because i think the shell will grow back.
