A Laser/323 that has been overheated is a chance to have permanent engine damage.
Auto gearboxes need servicing. With the engine warm, pull out the transmission dipstick and make sure the fluid is a clean, red colour. It shouldn't smell of burned toast.
A car bought from a mature-age owner is the plum purchase. Plenty of older folk bought them new and looked after them magnificently.

I know what quid means mate don't worry! Wouldnt bother if I was you to be honest, they are quite nasty looking cars in my opinion. They are not really tuners favorites so mods are are sparse and pricey, a bodykit would make it look unique (daft I think) and a remap/chip on the engine would help speed things up. This little lot would cost in excess of 1500 quid. Up to you mate, good luck.
