I'm from Roanoke VA thinking of moving to Charleston SC...i'm 24 and a registered nurse. I know I am in love with Charleston, my only draw back is going there and having no friends or family there!

I'm sure you will meet a variety of people in Charleston. You will meet people through work--as you know, Charleston has a huge medical community. You can also join a social club or volunteer for an organization or a church--look for organizations that attract other young, professionals.

Because Charleston is the kind of place in which there is always a festival, arts program, fund-raisers, etc., happening, I would urge you go to as many events as you can.

Also, when you meet someone you want to befriend, invite him or her to go somewhere with you. I think the world is filled with people who want friends, but are too shy to make the first move.

Godspeed.

If you're an RN then obviously work will provide a good start to meeting people or at least knowing some people you can go out with to meet other people. If you're not averse to such things perhaps try church. There are plenty to choose from and a bit of a more stable, safe environment.
