why don't black people ski or snowboard?

i go snowboarding all the time and i never, ever see ANY black people and i really don't understand this.

Of course blacks ski/snowboard but the culture and opportunity of winter sports just isn't the same for the community. Consider this 2002 Vonetta Flowers first African American Women to win a gold medal and 2006 Shani Davis becomes the first African American male to win a gold medal.

Deep seeded cultural reasons make it hard for blacks to break into ice-hockey, tennis, golf, swimming, skiing, and figure skating. Each of these sports have their pioneers and some like tennis/golf have their star Williams sisters and Tiger Woods. But historically they all have small % of blacks.

I think part of the reason is places like Idaho, Utah, Oregon, and Washington have tons of ski resorts but not very many African Americans. I still see like 3 black skiers/snowboarders every time I go, and I live in a small Idaho city where African Americans are few. I think they enjoy winter sports, and they are very good at them, but they're aren't very many who participate in them.

Yes, because the only place to go snowboarding or skiing in THE WHOLE WORLD is the place you go.

probably because of the so-called culture of jerks up at the mountain and everything in between. its not all that fun either.

dont like the cold weather and their pants will catch on the board since they dont steal belts only sunglasses
