Apparently its a code that can be broken, but it is virtually impossible without the book. If you want to work it out youself don't click the link below....it shows you how to solve the code. Also from reading around the web there are similiar codes in his other books - can't say I noticed, but will be checking.

Hi there Sara a, Here is what you are trying to find out:
The code is not as complicated as you might think. Take another look. ***Here's the way you decode it**** Take the numbers and arrange them in 4 vertical columns of 4 numbers. It should look like this:
128 10 6 39
10 128 6 1
93 98 25 68
85 112 126 78
Each number corresponds to a chapter in the book, in which the first letter is conveniently larger than the rest. That is the letter that each number stands for. Using that method, you end up with:
W E A R
E W A T
C H I N
G Y O U
Good eh? :o)

i have it but haven't read it yet, i hope its good
my only guess at what the numbers would me is some people create codes with book pages, line numbers or paragraphs and words.
example 128 may mean page 128 and maybe the 10th word
then page 93 and the 85th word. i am not sure that this is accurate, but i will try it hang on
ok i do not think i was entirly right, i did page # then word # and letter # (word and letter same # to see which one would work better) words were: way, touched, chain, but, a, office, intelligence , the,
the letters were
l e o n s s i m or l e o s s s i m depending how you counted on pg 98
so i think i was not correct. good luck and i hope you figure it out.
ok i just went to the web sight shown by Benignsource
that is so cool. i glad i went or i would have been trying to solve this forever. go see the sight if you haven't
good luck

Yeah I read the book and also noticed the numbers but I didnt think anything of it at the time. Maybe it has a secret message or something since that is what the book is all about and he wants to see if anyone can "crack the code."

I have read the book, and too tell you the truth I couldn't be bothered finding out what it meant.
I read Digital Fortress after reading the Da Vinci code, which I thought was a load of nonsense, and it showed what a formalistic writer Dan Brown is. You can tell he teaches writing, because his books are almost writing by numbers. breathless pace, the central characters escaping from one adventure only to find themselves in another getting out of that to get thrown into another. It is frantic and preposterous.
But the worse thing is that in all of his books (The only one I haven't read is Angels and Daemon's, but I have been told that its the same in that) Is that the same character always turns out to be the baddy. Once you work that out you can tell what the ending of his book is going to be after about 3 pages!
