I was diagnosed with Pelvic Inflammatory Disease a few years ago so feel qualified to answer this one!

My main symptoms were heavy, irregular bleeding with bad cramping along with a fever. During one particularly horrendous 'flare up' I had horrendous cramping (labour pains were nothing compared to that) and extremely heavy bleeding, so bad that I was having to change my sanitary protection a couple of times an hour.

PID is most commonly associated with chlamydia and gonorreah, but even though I had a million PAP smears, blood tests etc nothing was ever found, just majorly high levels of infection-it got so bad I was almost hospitalised for intravenous antibiotics.

If there's any chance you have this then please get to your Doc asap-left unchecked it can be very nasty, and even though I was treated quickly I still have bad internal scarring which has no doubt decreased my fertility (fortunately we don't want anymore kids though), and I suffer horribly from menstrual cramping, which I never had before.
