I'm making a quilt and am in the process of binding it off. Will back tacking make the quilt secure so the threads won't unravel?

it means you make a few stitches backward over the ones you already made, and it usually holds quite well.

Yes it will help to hold your quilt together as you are going back over the stitches you have done already. It is like reverse on sewing machine.

when back tacking you are securing the thread and gives a tighter stitch so in theory yes its like a knot lol

Yes, you back track a few stitches at the beginning and the end of your stitches, it's like knotting the ends.

Back tack with a zigzig stitch if you have that facility. You can buy glue that is clear to finish off but cannot remember name. Try local ahberdashery.

It will. Just make sure your backtack is straight over the threads that are already there.
