Did you notice how you just did the exact same thing?

Unfortuantely I've seen many on the otherside do the same.
I can't even answer that question without making a sweeping generalization about Republicans.
I guess I feel that anyone who does post and makes sweeping generalizations is uneducated and lacks critical thinking ability.

Yeah, it's funny innit?
The people on both sides who generalise about each other need each other- they are too dim to engage with the real issues, with the more difficult questions put by those capable of nuance and measured reason. They ignore facts and seek to frame their opponents as representing a certain set of 'values'- thus the audience isn't invited to choose between two ARGUMENTS, but to reject the pilloried person for offending what are always self-evidently 'right' values.
So they play to the 'home crowd' by always shouting at only their most extreme opponents.
Trouble is, with the Bush White House, those at the top ARE the parody... they seem to seek to BE the extreme stereotype. For instance, liberals are said to be, say, tree hugging-hippies who want America to lose the war. But you won't see Al Gore or George Clooney hugging a tree, wearing tie-dyed shirts or calling for the glorious victory of the jihad warriors.
One the other hand, Dick Cheney IS making massive personal profit from the war. George Bush DOES profess to be a fundamentalist Christian who (presumably) doesn't believe in evolution. Pat Buchanan DOES want gay people killed.
So while you can barrage the neocons with FACTS about their evil, they have only VALUES arguments to throw back- the liberals 'want us to lose' or are 'weak people who can only talk' or are 'violent traitors' (see the contradiction there? Republicans don't!).
It is possible for a good, defensible conservative position to be argued- but not for the current evil crop who've hijacked America.

Why Do Democrats Always Make Sweeping Generalizations About "Conservatives"?
You do realize these kind of things go both ways, right?

About just as much as Liberals make sweeping Generalizations about "Republicans".
...you do realize YOUR 'question' is generalized? Was that a joke?
So THEY realize how idiotic THEY sound?

Well, let's see? What do we have to go on? Are you saying Liberals don't make sweeping generalizations? Oh, yes, you said you were being ironic. It sounds like you don't really want an answer, you just want to argue. I, meanwhile, will continue to judge a nut as I see it. If it looks like a peanut and smells like a peanut, and tastes like a peanut, and feels like a peanut, I guess(by golly)it's a peanut.

When people are in their teens and twenties is usually the time period when they go looking for a partner/s. This is the time where we are usually must insecure. Guys and women both are guilty of making generalizations about the opposite sex but it usually has a deeper meaning than the generalization itself. When someone feels they have been rejected/disrespected, they tend to lash out. People who make such ridiculous dark comments about the opposite sex are the ones who feel most rejected by them.

Do you realize that you just did exactly what you are asking? You classified all as doing one thing while condeming and calling them idiotic for doing it ... Everyone does it about some people, it's part of human nature. Sorry if it came off as rude, just pointing out something I saw that might shed some light on you, either way, have a nice day!

It's what opposing sides do to one another to justify their opinions on the issues. We had better come together to solve some of these issues or we'll be having one major thing in common: TROUBLE.

Sweeping generalizations are favored by the right wing for at least two reasons:
1) Generalizations are all they have since they are not very good with specifics.
2) Many if not most members of the radical right are not terribly bright. Scream simple slogans at them and many of them will join in on the chant. Republicans are like a dog whose legs twitch when you rub its belly.

I shall answer your question with one of my own.
Why are so few liberals educated about the issues? Why do so few liberals recognize the hypocrisy of their Democratic leaders?
To quote one of my professors, "I don't like republicans, but I hate democrats."
"Why sir?" asked a student.
"Because they do a hell of alot of talking, and not alot of fixing. Most of the garbage they've passed has made the conditions worse."
