Yes, my cousin serves. He is adopted. I love him dearly and begged him not to go. He hinted at atrocities he may or may have not commited. I received a very strange e-mail that did not sound like it was from him at all. I will not reply to his e-mail because I know they are being filtered and read. There is something very fishy going on over in Iraq.

Yes, and by now, I would have thought that about everyone has.
My wife's brother is a non-commissioned officer in the army and was just sent to Iraq. He has a wife and six children waiting and praying for him to come home. He had no sooner arrived in Iraq than one of the soldiers under his command was killed.
Another fellow, an old friend of the family, was also posted to Iraq a couple months ago and is still there. He is doing very hazardous front line work, clearing out armed insurgents with his unit. He, too, has a wife and kids here stateside.
War is hell.

Early in the war, my church mom's group "adopted" a marine battery from our area, and we wrote letters to them and sent them phone cards and got to know them a little. They were lucky, at least then, because they got brought home after about 4 months. I'm sure they went back since, and I'm ashamed to have lost track. Of course, they were busy and had their families, and we were busy and had our families, but still.
My brother was in Afghanistan for a short time. He is highly classified and won't talk much about it. And I have 2 cousins who have been in Iraq. They are not close cousins, and I have not discussed it with them.
We feel blessed that no one we know personally has been lost. But a few in our town have died, and that feels like family. Tragic heroes.

My son was there twice as a Marine. He believed in what he was doing there. He had a job to do, a job he signed up for. What he felt about the politics didn't matter much to him since he had enlisted prior to 9/11. He felt strongly that he had a job to do. Luckily he came back to us twice in good shape. I am very proud of him. My heart goes out to all the families that have military over there, it is very difficult. It is our job to support our military and their family.

My Cousin Johnny was in Baghdad when it fell. He was there for over 2 years and I haven't asked him about it. I figure if he wants to talk about it he will, when he is ready. He helped the people with the vote & is proud of that.

My husband, and the whole community I live in. Also, I do not want to tell, others will only try to use it for their own agendas.
