A woman I know divorced soon after marriage. Her former spouse has since married again. Can a Catholic guy date this divorced woman? Is he committing adultery, or something?

Well, I am not Catholic so Pope Benedict's opinions do not have any resonance with me. Then again, I think that his views and canonical laws are for the birds. Nothing against Catholics, just the Vatican.

No, it is not adultery. Nobody has a perfect life. Find out why she's divorced--how she handled it, how she gets along with her ex and what she wants out of life and her relationships-- the answers will give you a good idea about where the relationship is headed. It is a good to take it slowly and not be pushy, since she has a lot to get over and may not be ready for a relationship on speed-dial.

You will not be able to marry a non-Catholic in a Catholic Church, especially a divorced woman. In my eyes, this is normal and not a form of adultery.

If that is the biggest sin they commited, they should sleep real good at night. For your friend, Do you think divorce is a bigger sin? How about premarital sex.

Of course you can date her. If you want to marry her, she will have to have an annulement in order to be married in the Catholic church. You can date anyone you want, if u believe in it, having sex is where the sinning comes in....

from what i was always taught. if the man remarries before the woman does then that takes away any chance that she will be condemed of adultry. she was released by him being the one to commit the adultery. i might have this back wards but i dont think so. i heard it from a baptist, mormon and christian preachers

According to the pope, I think he would be really screwing up.
But then, he's just a guy. Blessed, divinely inspired perhaps, but he's not God.

According the any muslim, they are all going to heck.

According to any methodist, it's all cool as long as they believe in Jesus.

Wait....Is the catholic guy single? That would be a critical point here.

Seriously, it all depends on your belief structure. If you are seriously worried about this, then it might be wrong for you, but I'd date the gal in a heartbeat if we hit it off.

good luck.
Kevin

Why not? Dating an unattached is not adultery.

it may be more jealousy in your side ,she's getting more action ,then yourself.
Find you a hobby ,to much time in your hand's.
