To be honest if you bought them from a petstore or someone who had them with mixed sexes don't expect to get babies from your male right away. Unless you bought a virgin female your chances of having babies from the male in your tank are slim to none. (Atleast for a while) Guppies are able to store sperm for up to 6 drops. I would also suggest you keep 3 females to every 1 male otherwise your male will harrass your girl to the point it stresses her out and can even kill her. Believe me, it doesn't take much to get them to breed. Most livebearing fish are horny, horny, horny. Lol!
Females drop every 3-4 weeks though they are able to hold back giving birth if the water quality isnt right. So be sure to make sure everything is good as holding back pregnancy too long can cause her to miscarriage or if the water is bad before shes ready she could go into premature birth. (Though I've never experienced this but I also do weekly test to all my tanks.)

Well, if the male fallows the female around a lot, or vice versa. To tell if the female is pregnant she will look a lot bigger, of course, and will either stay at the top of the tank or the bottom of the tank. throughout each day watch her and her actions. The babies will be very tiny and all you will practically see are the two eyes. keep in mind other fish will eat them and the mother will too if they are not removed from the thank. Put them in a net or another bowel until they are big enough to be placed back into the desired tank. An easy way to catch them is a turkey baster. hope this helps!!

If you have a pair and you got them already a few weeks old,the female is already pregnant by now,so the male will not have any affect on the breeding until several births happen. Females can have about 5 sets of babies in a half a year from just one impregnation by one male.

give them time. if they want to mate they will and if they don't want to mate they won't. it's all a matter of time. i know it sucks but that's really all you can do. sorry i couldn't help you out more, but heirs really nothing else you can do.
