Look at it this way. You never made the decision to do the worst thing you could do. Every decision you ever made, at the time you made it, you believed was the best decision you could make based on all the information you were willing to consider at the time. It was only later, later when you learned other information or other facts came to light that you decided the earlier decision was unfortunate and you called it a mistake. You have NEVER MADE A MISTAKE. What you have only done is recognize new information that came up later and decided that your earlier decision was wrong. But it wasn't wrong when you originally made it. It was RIGHT, as right as you could see. So if you call an earlier decision a "mistake", that would mean when you made it you knew you were making the wrong decision. I'll bet you've never done that. What you now need to do is to forgive yourself for judging yourself as being wrong...because you're judging you as being wrong for making a right decision. That doesn't make sense. Move into self-forgiveness and feel better about your life.

Sometimes it really hurts to make mistakes but it is how a person evolves you wouldn't know what you know now if you hadn't made this mistake. It's part of growing as a person and will make you stronger. Take a deep breath and try to find out the solution, there is a solution to every problem it's just finding the best one for this particular situation. Good luck! If you want to elaborate on your mistake I can try my best to help you out.

Mistakes help us learn and grow. Without mistakes thier would be no consequences and we would never learn how to do things right or easy. Without error thier would be no room to grow. Everything happens for a reason! For example : I was dateing a guy once who cheated on me as frequently as once everyother week with various girls. I stayed with him for a whole year fully knowing what he was up to and never left him out of fear and high hopes. Now that we finally broke up I look back and realize how stupid I was and what I should have done ( dump his *** ). I feel a year of my life was not only wasted but spent compromiseing my feelings. I have learnt out of this experiance how a man should not treat his girl and I have also learnt that it is not okay to let yourself be hurt by another human being. I have been much wiser with my choises in relationships lately all thanks to that mistake.

I understand where you are coming from. However, reality says that mistakes are a way to learn. You have probably heard the phrase, "we learn from our mistakes". Life is a learning process. All our life long. We also learn from good things that happen in our lives. Take care.

so we can learn from them. it's what makes us human.
the paradox is, if we went back into time to stop the decision process (that led us into making the initial mistake), how would we know if that mistake itself won't lead into other mistakes in the future? you would be going back into time quite a bit!

I hear you there. I would have to say every one on this site can say the same thing. We make mistakes to make us better people. This is how we grow and learn. Things that hurt seem to stick with us more. So we are more cautious not to make them again hopefully.

To err is human.
Instead of whining and wishful thinking, use your mistake as a learning lesson to make you a wiser person.

It is how we learn and called being human. It is better to admit your mistakes fully and honestly and then move on.
