Body aches if it occurs with fevers/colds. Growing pains if it happens when there are no cold signs present. Mentally though, keep a tab of how often they occur. If it happens more and more frequently, then he should get checked out.
We had to do this with my daughter and she has an inflammatory disease, but that can't give it a name. But she was complaining 3-4 times a week and running a low grade fever with it constantly and sleeping/not eating.

My five year old has this problem. It has happened twice to us so far. He starts running a really high fever and starts complaining of a head ache and his legs will hurt really bad. It was really disturbing to me the first time, so I took him to the hospital. They took a blood test on him and it came back with a high level of white blood count. They said this meant he was fighting some kind of infection. They ended up sending him home after talking to his pediatrician. The very next day, he was fine. We were clueless. The next time he did this, I waited too long to have the blood test done on him. But it all happened in the same way, the next day, he was fine. They say the best time to do a blood test is during the fever. He only does this occassionally. Every once in a while he will complain of his bones hurting. The doctor says there is nothing to worry about. I just keep a close eye on it and I buy things like bananas and so forth to give him more vitamins to help with his growth pains. I hope this helps you to feel like you're not the only parent frustrated over this. It's so confusing and you just want to take the pain away for them because you hurt so much watching them go through it. I also rub his legs when he complains about them. Good luck.

Hi, my son still has those, "growing pains". Depending on how bad they are, I'll give him a children's tylenol, along with a heating pad. Warm baths work too. As long as he's not running fever, and complaining all the time, he should be fine. If you have any questions or doubts, just call your doctor and I'm sure they can give you suggestions too, or can determine if it's anything more serious.

It's just joint pain probably if it is happening with fevers & when he is unwell. Apart from that my 3yo complained of leg pain for nearly 2 years & despite all tests nothing was ever found wrong. Now he just gets the pain when he has a fever or is run down. The paediatrician told me it was probably a case of stretching & growing pains.

Your son may be experiencing 'cramps' or he may just 'feel funny' and weak and not know how to say that ... and he's noticing it more in his 'legs' because he likes to be 'up and running around' and not 'down and being still' ... but, to be on the 'totally safe side' you should first 'question him' gently about 'exactly how' his legs 'hurt' him ... and if he says anything 'unusual' or 'distressful' to you, take him to his pediatrician for a 'check' of his 'leg problems.'

I'm not sure why people ask for medical advise from strangers over the internet versus from someone you know and trust like your pediatrician. If it is a money issue, Use the Dial a nurse program which is usually free or call and talk to your Pediatricians nurse. It sounds to me like a typical leg ache from overworking his young legs but, I am not a qualified medical expert.

i'm efficient it really is growing pains. My sister, solid chum's daughter and my little lady have had them. they could cry purely at nighttime, as a rule legs hurting and the purely ingredient to resign became to rub the realm. ordinary approaches to inform is have your toddler discuss precisely the position it hurts and if it feels warm, maximum in all probability to be growing pains!

My kids used to complain of that too. When I asked my doctor, he described them as growing pains. The bones grow and develop and sometimes it is felt.
