I am a first semester RN Nursing Student. Do I have to take the 6 to 12 week CNA course, or can I just take the test at the Red Cross. I know I will pass the test because the first semester RN students are taught everything and them some of what CNA's would know.

I got certified by a nursing home it was a 12 week course, but you have had a semester of Rn school.I would think that they would have certified you after the CNA training.I would ask? It maybe a course they don't offer, but i find it strange that they didn't give that course first it is basic care not only of patients but care of the tools of the trade.and how to read patients charts etc. I would ask your teacher where to take this exam. Or if they certify you there at the end of year for that.I have never heard of taking it at the Red Cross. But for sure i would talk to your teacher or your counselor at the school.
