I don't think so. As long as you let the person know that you have every intention of paying her back (draw up and agreement and pay her back in on-time installments), I see nothing wrong with this. Your vet may have a payment plan/installment program as well, so you may not have to borrow the full amount--just borrow whatever is necessary to get the surgery, and then make payments to the vet.
Personally, if it were my pet, I would go to every person I knew until I found someone willing to help me.
Good luck, and all the best to you & your puppy.

you could talk to your family and see if they can help or if they can offer advice on where to go for help. i really hope that you find someone that can cause a dog is a great friend to have. you can also talk to the vet they will sometimes work with you on things like this just to save the pet. hope your friend gets well soon you are a really good friend to your dog

i am sure if she realizes how much the dog means to you she would help. i know it is hard to ask a family member for help, but sometimes you have to let your pride go. i would do it for my animals and let me tell u i have a lot. 12 cats and 3 dogs and i would not hesitate to ask my family for help. have you talked to your vet to see if there is not something he could do to help too? it is never wrong to ask for help from anybody, no matter what kind of help it is and the kind of help you are wanting and needing is a selfless help. only you can speak for your pet no one else, especially not the poor dog.

I think if the family member understood your relationship with the dog it would not be rude. If she has the money i'm sure she wouldn't mind borrowing for such a situation.

see if you can make payment arrangements with the vet.if not all you can do is ask but its your dog so your problem you must agree to pay all the money back and put it in writing.she will agree or not either way respect her answer.remember it is your dog so it is up to you.good luck.
