Yes get a couple of years before you tie the knot!

Twenty is awfully young to make a lifelong commitment like marriage. Nowadays people easily live into their 90's. That's a long time to commit to another person without having experienced much of life beforehand.

Only twenty and together for six years? That means they started dating at 14. They probably do not have much of anything to compare this relationship with. How do they know this person is the one unless they have any comparisons? Have they continued their education? Do they have jobs that can support any children that come along? BTW, Two minimum-wage jobs are not enough for one adult, let alone the needs of two plus children.

I think people should not get married until they are of legal age to drink at their wedding, which in the US is age 21. That sounds silly, but think about it. If society thinks a person is not ready to handle alcohol until the age of 21, how can a person handle the much more serious matter of lifelong commitment called marriage?

Sometimes young people see marriage as a necessary right-of-passage to enter adulthood. There are other ways to prove one is mature. Getting an education, finding a job that one loves, buying a house or getting an apartment, volunteering to help the less fortunate, are all ways to "prove" one is now an adult. I would urge this couple to work on bettering themselves for awhile and then if they are still of one mind, to marry.

But only if they are legally able to drink at their own wedding!

Well I was married at 19 and I had been with him for two years. We're getting along great and it was the best decision ever.
It depends on the couple but if they're ready, then all the more power to them.

She's too young, and she really started her maturity too early to know what life is really about.
