I have a 1995 Cadillac Eldordo and it needs a new engine. Do I have to use the same year and model engine to replace it or can I use any Northstar engine?

Your better off with a 4.9. You can use the 1994 4.9. The 1997 4.9 Northstars suck because there's too many coolant problems. My fiance had a 94 Eldorado 32 valve Northstar with a recall on the oil coolant line and the fuel rail, which caused his car to catch on fire, so you might want to check for recalls on your particular model just to be safe. Good luck.

As long as it's the same size and it's 95 or newer because of the computer (if it's OBD2 then you need a 95 or newer) it should work.
