San Diego! lol
Depending on how near to Phoenix you want to be; Sedona; Red Rocks, hiking and New Ageiness splendor.
Prescott; Whiskey Row bars, old west feel and nearby National forest.
Jerome; Old mining ghost town turned artist community with haunted hotels, interesting shops to peruse, good dining and close to Sedona, hiking also just don't fall in a abandon mine.
Maybe stay on the Reservation south of Phoenix at the Sheraton Wild Horse Pass resort and casino. Golf Gambling Spa and the metro area is right close by.

Los Angeles is only a 6 hour drive, San Diego about 5 hours. Save the time and money and check into one of the dreamy spa hotels and indulge!
