It's arrogant, a touch of megalomania, narrcisistic, deluded grandeur to even think that anyones questions get answered here. All participants suffer from paranoia and inate loneliness otherwise they wouldn't be here in the first place.
Thatis my answer... full of arrogance and delusion.
Have fun... get as much joy as you can everyday and dont worry.

If it's an academic question then I make sure I'm right before I post. If its not an academic question then it's simply my opinion and is of the same value as everyone else's opinion. However, I am arrogant, most people with high IQ do come across as so simply because we have more facts stuffed in our heads than others.

As for Y!A, my colleagues are amused when I tell them about the site, they know it's like Heaven on Earth to me because I have an annoying habit of trying to enlighten them with the latest scientific fact ... or, more frequently, I'm correcting their spelling, grammar and punctuation - you do NOT use a comma in simple plurals.

At the same time, I'm learning, which I love. No-one knows everything; nowhere near and I'm always trying to increase my knowledge. Y!A is absolutely perfect for that and we also get to learn about other religions, cultures and lifestyles. What's not to love. I've been on here most of the day, since I finished nightshift at 8 am this monring.

I've washed a couple of times, had my dinner, late tea coming up but then, I usually have my tea around 8pm anyway but I've answered about 100 questions today, I think, I've lost count.

Thank you to all you cuddly people out there for being unique with a unique perspective on the world and unique questions.

A lot of questions on here don't really have a 'right' answer. Everyone just tosses out opinions based on their own experiences. I think we can learn a bit about other people based on how they answer certain questions but I don't actually believe we learn the answer to the question itself unless you're talking about a category where where everything is pretty cut and dry (like science & math, etc.). All we really get by answering these questions is finding out if more people agree or disagree with our opinion. I guess someone could become arrogant if they see that lots of people are agreeing with them with 'thumbs up' or something.

You raise a good point, but I think it's actually more likely to be the other way around--------we answer all these questions
precisely because we already have an overinflated sense of what we know!

But communication is a basic human need----we are a social animal, after all----and attempting to answer a question with the goal of trying to help someone or share information----is
a pretty nice thing to be doing, even if there is a little element of ego mixed in there, too. The basic intention of most of us doing this is, I think, good.

What's wrong with being arrogant?

One would hope that the majority of people realize, especially in a forum like this, that their answer might not be exactly "right," but might be good enough to help the person who is looking for answers better than they have come up with on their own.

I think we can learn a lot about ourselves and others by the answers given here. Mostly it is a little bit of fun, but I have come across some great answers that have made me ponder.

Answering gives me a feeling of being part of something. I don't think I have the right answer, just an opinion most of the time.

It's just a shame some people use the anonymity of YA to be cruel and abusive.

The only danger here is choosing to spend the amount of time doing this over getting paid to feed your family or going to school to better yourself. If you are on here speaking your truth that is fine, but the bonus I think is when you read others' answers with an open mind/heart.

To paraphrase Socrates, The first step of Knowledge is that we know nothing.
I am ignorant if I do not seek other answers. I am arrogant if I do not respect other opinions.
