he is smart in the sense that he can manipulate the US citizen and pass acts like the Patriotic Act that goes against our constitution and still have followers.

Not one of the smartest ever...so what? He never claimed to be, nor do his supporters. We're all just realists with common sense who understand the threat.

Besides, if his detractors were so much smarter, he would never had become president.

I think Bush is book smart, but not really street smart. He is intelligent, he just doesn't know how to apply that intelligence. There are a number of people like this.
