I was working with a recruiter and she told me the employer would not wait for a decision over the weekend. I feel I was pressured by the recruiter. After much thought, I really do not want the job. But the employer is really nice and I don't want to let them down. But I will be really bored in the job.......and they know that.

How to I reneg on a job offer that I accepted?

Do I respond to both employer and recruiter?

You can deal only with the recruiter if you want - no reputable recruiter is going to want you to take the job if you're going to quit because often they don't get paid unless the employee stays for 30 or 90 days...

There is nothing wrong with turning down the job - no future employer need know you did this. Also, if the recruiter is using high pressure tactics like this, find another one -there's no reason you need to work with them!

My suggestion would be that you take the job, but start looking for other employment on your own. It sounds to me like your recruiter probably works on some sort of commision and just wanted to get that job filled. If that's the case, I would advise that you look for jobs on your own from now on, or at least without his/her "help".

Yes, respond to both with a nice letter along the lines of, "after further consideration, I find myself unable to accept your gracious offer of employment. I am pursuing another opportunity which is a better fit for my skills. I wish you every sucess," etc.
